Tips For Getting Started

What You Need To Know

Golf is incredibly complex and inherently difficult. For example, making contact with a golf ball with the clubface 1 degree left or right can make a shot go 15 yards in that direction!

With this in mind, I am going to provide a few beginner tips to get you started.

1. FIND THE RIGHT EQUIPMENT. Golf is an expensive sport once you start buying new equipment. I would suggest buying an older set of used clubs to start, but make sure they are the same type of club throughout the set. This will help your consistency.

2. BRING THE RIGHT MINDSET. Golf is frustrating, especially at the beginning. You will not be good and it will take lots of time an patience to improve. Know this from the start and remind yourself that improving is a process.

3. MAINTAIN A COMFORTABLE POSTURE. Watch a video or two to understand the correct posture to hit the ball, and then adjust it slightly to make it comfortable for your body type.

4. DEVELOP A ROUTINE. This is very important to help your consistency and confidence. Develop a pre-shot routine and stick to it before each shot.

5. PLAY THE RIGHT WAY. Golf etiquette is very important once you get out on the golf course. Make sure to read up on how to act and what to do in certain situations to avoid slowing down play and upsetting others on the golf course.

6. HAVE FUN!! Golf is tough, but it is also fun. Remember to enjoy yourself and it will be easier to make improvements.
